Ride on Sunday 5-20.

I rode up Angeles Crest Highway yesterday with Jeremy and my new bud Terry.
We arrived at the famous Shell gas station at 9am. We hung around there 'till 9:30am waiting for the usual Ducati crew that didn't show. They went on a 260 mile ride the day before and were too burnt.
Anyway, the 3 of us cruised up ACH at a decent pace, ever mindfull of the CHP and their radar. We arrived at Newcomb's Ranch, a famous Biker hangout, at approx 10am. The 3 of us had a nice breakfast.
We then hung out, chatted amongst ourselves and with some of the other bikers.
Around 11:30, we rode back to my place. Jeremy had out of town guests so he returned home. Terry and I weren't done riding yet, even though we just rode about 160 miles, so we raced through the canyons near my place.
All in all a very fun, enjoyable day!

Goji,
I forgot to mention the why part, so here goes.
1) It was my first concert, I was 15 and it was HENDRIX!
2) I was 16 and it was HENDRIX!
3) Zeppelin baby! What a cool band. Great shows.
4) The Stones with Mick Taylor (a real kick ass guitarist) pushed up against the stage at the Palladium. What could be better?
5) Dude, Bowie and the original Spiders, 4 shows at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. It was even captured on film. The Rise and fall of Ziggy. Jeff Beck showed up for the last show.
6)The Who at Anaheim was probably THE Loudest show I ever went to. Yes even louder than Zep. But it was so much more than just loud. The energy that came from those 4 guys was electric. I was buzzing for days after that show.
7) Zep front row at the Swing Auditorium in San Berdo. Dude, think about it. That's all I've got to say.
8) Deep Purple front row again. Those guys put on one kick-ass show! Ritchie Blackmore Rocks!
Ask Gore about Mr Ian Paice, their drummer. Total energy, non stop.
9) Humble Pie Swing again. The Swing Auditorium was a fantastic small locale (about 2000 people) to see these huge bands.
Humble Pie at it's finest with Steve Marriott, Peter Frampton, Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley. Great, powerful rockers man! Listen to some of their old stuff.
10) The Who Long Beach. 2 shows on 2 seperate nights. Front row center again. Loud, powerful, Maximum R&B. Townsend's windmill on the guitar, Daltrey spining the mic, Moon pounding on them skins, and John Entwhistle calmly and masterfully playing lead guitar on his bass. 'Nuff said. You had to be there to understand.
Those days and those bands are gone. I feel sorry for this generation. I feel sorry that they didn't get to see and feel these great bands. The bands these days lack the soul and the power of the Rock Gods of yesterday.
Gutless music. Pathetic dribble.
